Women and Household Psychology

A woman inside a man's household is not only responding to facts. She is responding to meaning.

Who am I to him? Where do I stand? Am I protected? Am I replaceable? Does he still desire me? Does another woman have more access? Is he telling me the whole truth? Does he know what he is doing? Can I relax?

Many male mistakes come from answering the literal complaint while ignoring the deeper question.

Jealousy

Jealousy is not always irrational. It is often a signal that a woman cannot locate herself inside the hierarchy of meaning.

Sometimes jealousy means insecurity. Sometimes it means a real breach. Sometimes it means the man created ambiguity. Sometimes it means the woman needs reassurance. Sometimes it means she is testing whether the frame still exists.

The man's job is not to obey jealousy. His job is to interpret it.

Reassurance

Weak reassurance says: I will change the frame so you stop feeling.

Strong reassurance says: the frame remains, and I will remind you where you are safe inside it.

That difference matters.

Testing

A woman may test through emotion, complaint, withdrawal, accusation, seduction, disrespect, silence, or comparison. The test is often less about the content than the question underneath: are you still the man?

The answer must be calm, embodied, and consistent.
